Serena Williams wins
Serena Williams quickly found her range as the former champion moved safely into the second round on Tuesday. Just the day after her sister Venus was bundled out in the first round, restored family honor with a 6-2 6-4 defeat of battling Czech Barbora Zahlavova Strycova. Yes, Serena got the job done, which she couldn't say the last time she was at a major championship. As always the most interesting part of her opener was her clothing. This was what she wore during her warm up.
What might we call this? A"warmup jacket"?
She has been known to wear some unimaginable sports gear like........
It's not just her clothings that get the feel from her fashion wand, her nails too
However the "warmup jacket" owes its inspiration to her famous Trenchcoat of the 2008 Wimbledon.
Here is what she said led to the evolution of the trench coat in 2008
“I was talking to Nike, I walked in, had this great coat on there and they said we should do a coat like this for Wimbledon,” explained Serena about the evolution of this coat. “I was like, Okay, cool. I was really all about it. Now I have a wonderful white coat I can wear on the court and also, you know, in New York for those rainy days. “
Meanwhile, Venus and Serena will play doubles together at the olympics, they'll both be in Nike dresses, as Nike is Serena's apparel sponsor.
As usual, Polo Ralph Lauren continues to be official uniform supplier for ball boys and girls.
Well here is a little fact for you - Do you know that girls were not allowed until 1977, and that it was 1985 before they appeared on Centre Court? Well now you know!!! :)

WTA to terminate grunting
The Women's Tennis Association has reportedly reached agreement with the four grand slams - Australian, French, US Open and Wimbledon - and the International Tennis Federation to develop a hand-held device to objectively measure on-court grunting levels. These two have been fingered as
The device the GRUNT-O-METER would be used to guage when players - including grand slam champions Sharapova and Azarenka - are being too loud.
"It's time for us to drive excessive grunting out of the game for future generations," WTA CEO Stacey Allaster said.
Am i the the only one who thinks this is ludacris? I mean are they now robots?
What are your views on this? Is it achievable?
YES SHAKIRA IS PREGNANT - DAD
With all the rumours flying around that pop star Shakira may be pregnant with Gerard Pique’s baby for a few weeks now and with her camp denying the reports, here is what her papa had to say.
Shakira’s father, William Mebarak MAY have let the cat out of the bag telling La Prensa of the rumors, “Hopefully the news will be made official soon.” Notice how Mebarak didn't deny the speculation that his daughter is pregnant?
Mebarak seems to have endorsed her relationship with tall Barcelona player Gerard Pique stating, “We are satisfied with the current relationship, It is a relationship that is 100 percent happiness, it makes them happy. What makes them happy makes us happy. He is a VALUABLE young man.”
The rumors began earlier this month when Mexican entertainment gossip site TV Notas reported that not only is the “Rabiosa” singer allegedly preggers, but also that she and Piqué have already bought a mansion in Barcelona to get settled with their newborn.
The publication added that as of now Shakira is supposedly two months pregnant and that her baby is due by the end of 2012.
Hmmmm Shakira c'mon don't starve us of the good news we love you both as a couple.... ;)
END OF THE ROAD FOR FEMI AJILORE AT GRONINGEN
The future looks bleak for Nigeria international, Femi Ajilore at Dutch club FC Groningen if reports from Holland are anything to go by. You will recall that Ajilore spent last season on loan at Brondby. At the end of the season, the Danish club did not exercise the option of buying him outright from Groningen. According to fresh reports the Technical Director of the club, Henk Veldmate now deems Ajilore surplus to requirements. The 27-year-old central midfielder has a contract with FC Groningen until the end of the 2012 - 2013 season. If Ajilore remains, he would be entitled to at least 500,000 euros in wages, which is not economical for the club, as he is not in the plans of Coach Robert Maaskant.
TRANSFER MARKET: Breaking news!!!
The Gunners have confirmed on their official website that they have reached an agreement for the signing of the France international. The 25-year old striker completed a medical before agreeing terms at the Club’s training ground yesterday evening. The completion of the transfer is now just the subject of formal processes. Giroud arrives from French champions Montpellier, where 21 goals in 36 league appearances made him the French league’s joint top goalscorer last season and also earned him a place in the Ligue 1 Team of the Year. Giroud, who enjoyed a two-year spell at the Stade de la Mosson and broke into the national team in November 2011, flew to London after representing Les Bleus at the European Championship in Ukraine and Poland.
Giroud made three appearances at Euro 2012 though he played only 32minutes. How good of a boost is it for the gunners with next season in view?
